Obama Stimulus Money Smiles On Medical Technology Company (Investor''s Business Daily - Business) - Dec 02, 2009

They're cheering for the government's stimulus package at Cerner ( CERN ). The $19 billion in federal stimulus funds to motivate hospitals and doctors to convert to electronic medical record keeping means more business for the developer and vendor of health care data keeping software and systems. In fact, the $19 billion is really worth a potential $36 billion when savings resulting from electronic records are taken into account, says George Hill, an analyst with Leerink Swann. "The initial view of our market and our clients and potential new clients is that the stimulus dollars are for real," said Marc Naughton, Cerner chief financial officer.

Medical Services Company Gets Booster Shot From Swine Flu Vaccine (Investor''s Business Daily - Business) - Nov 03, 2009

An ill wind is blowing some good McKesson 's ( MCK ) way. First, San Francisco based McKesson, the largest health care services company in the U.S., has the contract to distribute swine flu vaccine. Add to that the government incentive for development of health care electronic records, and the company is in good shape to outrun some 2008 setbacks. Whatever shape the final health care legislation takes, it's likely to be good news for McKesson. By giving more people coverage, especially for prescription drugs, it will increase demand for McKesson's services, says George Hill, an analyst with Leerink Swann.
