MIPS Technologies shares are on the rise Tuesday morning after Benchmark Co analyst Gary Mobley lifted his rating on the stock to Buy from Hold. In particular, he's bullish on the potential for monetizing the company's portfolio of 580 patents. The patents "have value on a standalone basis or as a key component for the outright sale of the company to a defensive or strategic buyer," he writes.

Groupon shares are skyrocketing Tuesday morning following the company's bettet than expected Q1 results, no doubt aided by some panicky short covering by the bears on the controversial daily deals company. As noted yesterday , the company reported Q1 revenue of $559.3 million, up 89% from a year ago, and ahead of the Street at $530.6 million. Non GAP profits of 2 cents a share topped the Street at a penny a share.
